Update: Added Photo
I found and added the old photograph (from Malaysia, 2000) to my previous post, Batik Dragon Prints.
Update: Dragon Poems
Here’s a tally of dragon poems in the WIP collection that need editing (some need minor edits, while some need a lot of work).
Quadrants—
- Teenage (1)
- Nature (6)
- Personal Mythos (10)
- Romance / Love & Longing (4)
Those in the “Personal Mythos” quadrant are a mess as they have more storytelling elements, and I wrote some of them early this year when the concept for the whole collection was still hazy.
You can learn a bit more about the poetry quadrants here, while I slowly think about how to present them nicely on the poetry book page.
Dragon Tarot Cards and Decks
I thought I’d share some of my tarot decks today as I often use them for creative work or personal reflection.
NOTE: Not all of these decks are full “dragon tarot decks” where every single card has a dragon. I’ll include a few towards the end that are indeed full “dragon tarot decks” if that’s something you’re looking for 🐉
Gifted Beginnings
A close friend gifted me my first tarot deck many years ago: the beautiful Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law!

I didn’t dive in right away. The deck sat quietly, like a sleeping dragon, as I occasionally dipped into it to get a feel for it (or admire the delicate artwork).
Astrology vs. Tarot
I learned about astrology beyond the sun sign when I was around 18 (beginning with discovering my moon sign: Pisces ♓🌙).
I took much longer to get into tarot compared to astrology.
Perhaps it’s because astrology felt more like a self-discovery tool. I was more overwhelmed with the world of tarot as each image or card design was very mysterious and esoteric to me.
I did have a few tarot books (and if I had to get one today, I’d probably get Tarot by Tina Gong who runs the Labyrinthos website). Still, it took me a long time to dive into them more.
During some particularly weird or difficult months last year, I started browsing my decks more often and learned along the way that way. I found that they often reflected my mood and my close friend did share some advice about using it more for “reflective” than “predictive” purposes.
Dragon Sightings across Decks
I have about 8 decks at home, which include:
- Neon Moon cyberpunk deck (love the colour scheme!!)
- Miniature Rider-Waite deck (bought in 2016; one of my first decks)
I started noticing dragons in some of my decks, like:
- Shadowscapes Tarot (multiple dragons in the Pentacles suite)
- PAWS tarot deck (gifted to me from my sis haha; there’s a cute red dragon in the 7 of Cups)
- Rackham tarot deck (one dragon-designed card; 10 of Swords)

Star Dragons Oracle Deck
The Star Dragons Oracle deck is a fully-dragon-themed deck, with 33 cards.

I got this deck in August 2024 and it quickly became my writing companion.
I use it when I need some inspiration or motivation, or some guidance when I’m running out of ideas.

One of my favorite cards in this deck is “Healing / Restoring Hope.”
All of the cards have a great energy to them, and I like the action-oriented reflective tone of the booklet.
Beyond My Own Decks
While browsing online, here are some other dragon decks or dragon cards I’ve found.
Dragon-Related Decks (Tarot)

- Dungeons & Dragons Tarot Deck (fantasy motifs; some dragon cards)
- Dragon Tarot Deck (by Terry Donaldson and illustrated by Peter Pracownik; full dragon deck)
- Tarot of Dragons (by Shawn MacKenzie and illustrated by Firat Solhan; full dragon deck)
- Smoke, Ash & Embers (by Stephanie Burrows and illustrated by Adam Oehlers; full dragon deck)
- Starlight Dragon Tarot (abstract and cosmic)
Dragon-Related Decks (Oracle)
- For The Love of Dragons (by Angi Sullins, art by Amy Brown)
- Dragon Oracle Cards (by Diana Cooper, art by Lee Morrow)
- Star Dragons Oracle deck ✨
- Other dragon decks (Reddit discussion)
Dragon Cards (Single)
I’ve seen a few cool single dragon tarot card designs, like:
- King of Cups (from Tarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani)
- The Tower (by @rayleearts)
- The Tower (by Alexandria Huntington // I love this card which I often see as a symbol of rupture and rebirth)
- The Moon (by Taylor Hultquist-Todd, from Myths & Legends: An Illustrated Tarot)
“The Lovers” Card
Last but not least, here are two “The Lovers” dragon-themed cards, which represent choice and alignment whether in a relational or other context.

These dragon Lovers cards have more of a “sweet energy” as compared to the traditional Rider-Waite version (that’s loaded with intense symbolism like Adam and Eve and the serpent in a Garden of Eden context, which you can view here via Biddy Tarot).
The dragon depictions feel more like alignment or balance, with less emphasis on a dramatic choice or contrast.
A lot of the Lovers cards in my non-dragon decks have this softer feel as well.
Conclusion
To quote from Divine Karma:
Tarot is less about predicting a fixed future and more about providing insight and guidance.
And sometimes, a dragon card shows up not to answer, but to gently remind us of something important to consider.
