Bone Dragon Poem (WIP Update #3)

Short post today about a couple of bone and ghost dragon poems I had in mind, as part of my dragon poetry collection.

Hi all,

Short post today about a couple of bone and ghost dragon poems I had in mind, as part of my dragon poetry collection.

The collection is…very messy at the moment 😅

But at least I have some material to work with.

The poems were concurrently done with a dragon skeleton sketch.

Was it the poems that inspired the sketch or the other way around? No clue!

Bone Dragon Poem

[WIP piece // as yet untitled]

the dragon peered over his shoulder

as he eyed himself in the mirror

I can help fulfill your every desire

“For real?”

As real as whatever sets your heart on fire

at first, it started slow

almost undetectable, no one would know

How far do you want to go

“I want it all”

Then all compared to you will be kept down below

each power move towards ascent

never wondering where his morals went

What do you have to say?

“I want more”

You’ll have it all your way

the dragon got stronger, bone by bone

as his body wore down in muscle and tone

It’s been good holding you ransom

“I—”

On to the next fresh victim

Ghost dragon poem

I had another poem that’s a little too close to the above in terms of concept.

I’ll share it some other time once I’ve been able to clean it up.

Anatomy drawing books

I enjoyed drawing the dragon skeleton, which was a follow-up from a dragon skull sketch.

In terms of structure, I’d like to continue doing skeleton or musculature sketches to build up more visual knowledge of what things look like under the surface.

Recently, I ordered a used copy of Constructive Anatomy: With Almost 500 Illustrations (Dover Anatomy for Artists), by George B. Bridgman.

I also have Figure Drawing: A complete guide to drawing the human body, by Jake Spicer.

I hope to make some progress over there as figure drawing is something I’ve found complicated for many years.
