100th post

Short update that I’ll be back later in the month, or next month (post-Covid symptoms plus dealing with indexing and Search Console issues).

We finally reached 100 posts on the blog! 💯

Slowly Recovering

I’ll be back later in the month or in September, as my post-Covid symptoms have been lingering a bit.

I had asthma as a child and haven’t felt that type of lung tiredness or irritation for a long time.

I made a short mention of it in the latest newsletter.

Indexing and Search Console

I’m trying out a new blog theme as I wanted to add a search bar to the top navigation menu. This option wasn’t available in my previous theme without a paid plugin or some PHP coding.

While fiddling around with these, I noticed that several of my posts weren’t appearing on Google.

I also saw a Reddit thread where some posters referred to it as “Google 4,” because of 4 pages not being indexed from their Google Search Console dashboard.

Perhaps I’m included in that group, as I also saw 4 pages not being indexed from my Search Console.

I think this happened after my site migration (moved from eBoundHost to KnownHost).

Furthermore, somewhere along the way, my category settings in the Yoast plugin got updated and excluded from Google indexing.

Hopefully it’ll get sorted out in a bit (I have to manually go into Search Console over the next few days to request re-indexing, as there’s a daily limit).

It was getting weird because I noticed that old posts I was updating were being kicked out of the “indexed” list also. It may have been related to the categories issue.

NOTE TO FELLOW BLOGGERS: Remember to always audit and check your site posts and pages!

Work Stuff

Work-wise, I’m now a “knowledge management associate” (my previous title was “content specialist”). It’s quite a long title but I think it’s a more accurate reflection of what my small sub-team does on a daily basis.

I’m on LinkedIn once in a while. Feel free to add me there if you like keeping up with career updates.
