Introducing: Micro App #2

Introducing the second micro app in a small series on Dragonsinn. Takes inspiration from tarot. Version 1 is Major Arcana only.

Earlier this year, I worked on a small project: the Daily Dragon Affirmations micro app.

Since then, I’ve been working on another lightweight experiment: a dragon tarot micro app, which is now available in its first version.

Here are a few short reflections on the process.

Reflection Notes

While Micro App #1 loosely draws on elemental astrology, Micro App #2 takes inspiration from tarot.

I actually only got into tarot years after astrology, which is quite surprising as I am usually very drawn to visual elements. I think I was just overwhelmed for a long time with all the different cards and meanings in a standard tarot deck.

Version 1: Major Arcana

According to Labyrinthos, the Major Arcana is “a 22 card set within the tarot that is considered to be the core and the foundation for the deck. All of the deck is filled with archetypal significance, but this is most pronounced within the Major Arcana.”

Since I prefer breaking larger projects into smaller pieces, I decided to start with short written descriptions for the Major Arcana before tackling the rest of the deck.

From a development perspective, I reused much of the structure from Micro App #1 to speed up the process and keep the experience lightweight for visitors.

Fantasy vs. Reality

In a world where I had no other commitments or responsibilities, I’d probably sit down and illustrate an entire 78-card dragon tarot deck.

However, reality had other plans.

For now, what you’ll find is a highly streamlined emoji-based interpretation of each card pull and reading. Very simple and dragon-themed.

Micro App #3?

I remember previously mentioning a dragon blessings micro app idea, which would have a more humorous vibe than Micro App #1.

I’ll have to revisit my notes and see whether that project is ready to hatch.

Technical Notes

For visitors who enjoy the behind‑the‑scenes side of things, the technical notes are on my WIP portfolio site.

They’re linked here for anyone who’s curious about the more hands-on side of the build.
