WIP Poems #1: 9-Word Dragon Poems

My first post of WIP dragon poems. These were based off a prompt to write 9-word poems based on the day’s weather. Rainy imagery.

Hello everyone,

I’m going to be travelling next week so I thought I’d make a quick post here about some WIP (work-in-progress) poems.

I usually take a very long time to get back to my online hobbies after a vacation. This time I’ll try to resume it sooner! 🫶

I have a poetry workbook titled One Poem a Day, by Nadia Hayes. Mine was a used copy that I got from World of Books.

I’ve been using a couple of workbooks to help me progress with my dragon poetry collection.

The way this one works is through a daily prompt. You can jump around or do them in chronological order.
I tend to like jumping around with them.

I wrote these on the 17th March and the prompt was:

Write a 9-word poem about today’s weather.

It happened to be a very grey and rainy day, so here are some of the nine dragon-themed poems I wrote based on the above prompt.

9-Word Dragon Poems

  1. grey mist like a lurking dragon’s plume of smoke
  2. tear-stained windows after a wind dragon’s late night rampage
  3. mist over mountain, high above the dragon’s hidden cavern
  4. rain—calico kitten, curled up beside a pink dragon plush
  5. cracks on glistening tarmac—battle-weary dragon’s underbelly
  6. a glimpse of sunlight over the charred dragon’s rock

Not all of these may be exactly nine words, but I’ve decided to post works-in-progress here and there.

Otherwise I’m going to take forever to try and edit and polish everything which will be very time-consuming.

I’m planning on finalizing my packing over the weekend for my upcoming 2-week trip.

I’ll try to take some dragon photos if I can, as I’ve usually done in my previous trips to museums and other cool places.

So I’ll see you when I get back. Take care!
