Dragons from Chicago Trip

Dragon photos from my July work Chicago trip. Includes pictures from the Art Institute of Chicago.

I finally bulk optimized some pictures from my Chicago work trip in July.

Hotel

My team stayed at the Hyatt Regency (E Wacker Drive).

It was great and I left good feedback for two frontline employees (Gladis and Grace were amazing!). They were very helpful and prompt when I had a request on the last night due to some noise issues in the adjoining room. I was moved to a higher floor with a view.

I always try to leave good feedback for staff via the survey / email form that you get after the stay. I’ve heard that management reads it which factors into the staff’s performance reviews, etc.

Escape Room

We had a couple of very busy days with a mixture of work, team building, and fun/social activities.

I tried an escape room for the first time.

I was on the Mission: Mars sub-team (at The Escape Game), and wow that was tough. We made it out with 4 minutes to spare.

Some of the earlier physical puzzles left me flummoxed. There was a puzzle with moving pingpong balls and I couldn’t figure that one out for the life of me.

I hovered around a lot and became more useful towards the end, as more visual puzzles got involved.

Dragon Photos

I learned from my Boston trip to allocate more time for museum walkabouts (and to check the floor plan / map / route beforehand to plan out what you want to see, especially if it’s a larger building).

I spent a few hours at The Art Institute of Chicago. I had a good time and would recommend it to others, especially if you like Impressionist paintings.

Here are some dragon sightings from The Art Institute.

Nine Dragon Wall

I actually saw this on the first day.

However it was a rainy day, so my photo was very blurry.

Here’s a better pic!

About Nine Dragon Wall: This wall is made of glazed tile from China and is modeled after the wall in Beihai Park in Beijing. The Chinatown mural replicates the large dragons and over 500 smaller dragons. The Nine Dragon Wall is one of the only three such replicas outside of China.
