Dragonsinn Coat of Arms

Introducing a Dragonsinn personal coat of arms / commemorative emblem, designed by President of Obscurium Zar Antonov.

This was supposed to be posted in August, though I took a break to recover from covid.

If you’ve seen the Dragonsinn 25th year monthly celebrations post, you may remember a mention of a commemorative emblem.

Here it is in the form of a personal coat of arms:

Designed by Zar Antonov

Many thanks to fellow dragon enthusiast Zar who graciously designed it!

Symbols in the Coat of Arms (CoA)

I like looking at coat of arms designs, although I’m not familiar with the details to create something sensible in terms of layout. So I asked Zar if he could come up with something since he has flag and CoA design knowledge from the micronational world.

The design was based on symbols I wanted to include, and CoA arrangements or styles I liked.

By some miracle, all of my requested text and symbols actually made it into the final design.

Here’s a quick rundown of them.

Title (above)

I wanted the website name and year it was founded to appear somewhere in the emblem.

The title and year of launch can also, incidentally, be found in the updated Dragonsinn circular logo.

Motto (below)

I wanted ars et scriptura (“art and writing”) as my life would be very bleak and boring without those two things.

Grey Cat

I think the grey cat at the top totally looks like my 9 year old cat.

She sleeps a lot nowadays but still has her highly energetic moments.

She’s a brave, feisty (to other pets) feline who made the trip with me from Florida to Maine โœˆ๏ธ

Eastern & Western Dragons

Naturally I wanted at least one dragon in the emblem.

I thought two (Eastern & Western) would be nice if space allowed for it. It echoes my own cultural upbringing and the existence of dragon beliefs throughout history in the East and West.

That reminds me that I should really update some of my old posts next year:

Virgo Symbol โ™

There’s a Virgo symbol in the center as I’m a Virgo sun sign.

I’m also a bunch of other signs (like Pisces Moon, Venus Scorpio) although Virgo is the one I first learned a lot about.

Other Symbols

  • Book: Because I read and journal a lot.
  • Pen: This is my preferred medium for both writing and sketching.
  • Laptop: I’m on it a lot.

Requested Colors: Red, black, white

I’ve always liked the red/black or red/white/black color scheme, so that’s what I went with.

Everybody, please take two minutes out of your day (or evening) to admire the style and beauties in this Dolce & Gabbana Fall 1995 Fashion Show.

I’ve started the video at the segment with red/black and red/black/white outfits.

Includes 90’s supermodels like Slalom Harlow, Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, and Kate Moss gliding down the runway to INXS music in the background!
